The Afghan by Frederick Forsythe

If you ever read any of Forsythe's novels, two things hit you in the face. You need a World map to navigate across the world. Two, the amount of research that goes into his novels is amazing. In The Afghan, Forsythe takes you from Scotland to Indonesia, from US to Cuba and then hop over to London and before you know it you have traveled across the world and feel like you've just been there.

As usual, gripping story right to the end.

1) Behind the lines of Cowardice
2) Bounty Hunting in Pak - for Dummies and Bush only - Special Edition
3) Saving Pakistan thru Dictatorship and Censorship
4) Art of Bloodless Coup
5) Must-have Real Estate properties in Kashmir
6) Dodging bullets, bombs and missiles (read as Run for your life)
7) Sleeping with the Enemy

So I pick the newspaper today and I see a photo of Steve Irwin, the real Crocodile Dundee, the guy who made watching Animal Planet & Discovery entertaining in a comic sense and who seemed fearless holding up some of the deadliest reptiles and snakes.

Poor chap died while doing his job -- educating us of our own precious creatures on our planet.
